The SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) is a standardized test used for college admissions in the United States. It is designed to assess certain analytical, writing, and critical-reading skills that students have developed over time and that are considered important for success in college. The SAT is owned and administered by the College Board, a non-profit organization.
The SAT consists of four sections: Reading, Writing and Language, Math (no calculator), and Math (calculator allowed). The test is scored on a scale of 400-1600, with additional scores provided for the Essay (optional) and the SAT Subject Tests (optional). The SAT is typically taken by high school juniors and seniors, and it is used by colleges and universities as one factor in the admissions process. The SAT is offered several times a year at testing centers around the world.
